Michael Golden graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana with a Master's of Fine Arts in Printmaking in 1989. Upon completion, he moved to Houston and was hired as an art professor at Houston Community College, where he served as chair of the fine and applied visual arts programs throughout the 90s.
In addition to recently exhibiting his work in Texas in “The Abstract Impulse: Selections from the Permanent Collection” at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, he has shown at Artists’ Space and The Painting Center in New York City, and in Toronto, Boston, St. Louis, Washington, D.C., and other locations. Golden’s work is in several museums, and both corporate and private collections. Golden has served on the Artist Board at DiverseWorks Art Space and on several Houston Arts Alliance grant panels, and has also volunteered at Lawndale Art and Performance Center and the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. His studio is at Spring Street Studios in the Arts District of Houston. Besides working in his studio and teaching, he serves as gallery director and curator for the Art Gallery at HCC-Central and curates the TANK Project Space. |
