Jennifer McClish is a native Texan raised in Austin. She attended Memphis College of Art where she received her Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing. She subsequently attended the University of Houston where she earned a Master's of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing.
The artist says that she is interested in using economic materials, paint, small balloon sculptures, and collage elements to recreate the nostalgic and psychological aspects of graphic novels, as well as incorporating science fiction and architectural themes. She loves teaching college level students and believes that painting and drawing with students creates a collaborative environment that is essential to understanding contemporary art practices. She is a member of the Box 13 non-profit artist group in Houston and works out of Spring Street Studios. She is currently represented by Cindy Lisica Gallery at 4411 Montrose. |
